Sustainability is a continuous leaning process, and there are always opportunities to get out and learn something new and apply that knowledge in your local community. For those in the Gulf coast Region, there is an up-coming opportunity to raise eco awareness and network with the regional sustainability community. Gulf Coast Green 2009 Symposium and Expo on April 16th – 19th is the leading green building conference along the Gulf Coast region.
The theme of the 2009 conference is “Creating Sustainable Communities – Large Scale Low Impact.” The specific focus of the conference is green or sustainable building along the Gulf Coast region, but the content includes broader sustainability concepts such as ecological footprints.
Following the two-day symposium, the free and open to the public Houston Green Expo: Sustainable Energy and Green Building Consumer Event will offer an on-site marketplace targeted to consumers interested in embracing a more sustainable lifestyle. The themes - green building, energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative transportation, and Youth Green Zone - will address strategies and technologies critical to the Gulf Coast region’s future.
Last year 10,000 consumers from Houston and the Gulf Coast Region took advantage of the opportunity to learn about green, energy efficient products and services in a hands-on atmosphere free of green misinformation. As a sustainability consultant, I encourage everyone to get out and experience the exciting things going on in your local communities. Whether it is going to the local farmers market to talk to the local organic food growers or attending a business sustainability conference being hosted in your city, learning new sustainability concepts and networking further facilitates eco awareness.
Taiga Company is looking forward to Gulf Coast Green 2009!
