Taiga Company receives a variety of these requests for personal assistance.  A typical request can range from initial sustainability concept identification, confusion in implementation, or difficulty maintaining action.  Each individual is on a unique path in the pursuit of a sustainable lifestyle, yet there are some common elements that cross every journey.

Just the other day, we received a request from an individual wanting to build a personal sustainability plan.  This person had done some homework and identified some popular ‘green’ living ideas (recycling, organics, etc.) that were of interest but was confused on how to begin the process.

We started the conversation by discussing: “What is personal sustainability?"  And more importantly, "What does personal sustainability mean to you?”  Through this discussion, we identified his motivational drivers for the pursuit of a sustainable lifestyle.  Finding this unique  sustainability value is an important first step in building a personal sustainability plan.  Often it:

•    Fulfills personal interests.
•    Promotes personal growth.
•    Reduces daily expenses and helps to save money.
•    Promotes healthier living.

This conversation created a basis for this client’s personal sustainability plan.  In the following calls, we discussed specific strategies and techniques to guide this individual to begin to make changes.

By working with our sustainability consultant, this client gained knowledge and tools to build a successful personal sustainability plan.
