This sense of belonging and faith makes team members stick to the same leader; in the process, helping the leader deliver on the expectations the organization has from him, even in times of extreme crisis”.

Our sustainability consulting practice has a keen interest in stakeholder engagement, particularly in the leverage of knowledge and eco awareness of individuals already in place within a business, a community, or even a much smaller social circle.  As we consistently explore this key component of the process, our personal and business sustainability interests drive us to learn what it takes to harness the power of collective thought in the pursuit of sustainability goals.

Building on this discussion specific to a business setting, the recent Management Craft post, Building Great and Nimble Teams, provides insight into common dysfunction within traditional business settings and offers guidance to make improvements.  The article offers several areas of exploration that often impact how a team is doing and, if addressed, how they can positively impact engagement.

Work complexity and the need for greater accountability.
Emotional content of work, self-esteem.
Managerial practices that enhance or hinder ownership.
Affiliation, we all want to feel that we belong.
Workplace hassles and the complexities of business structures

“These themes come together and affect the overall productivity and morale of the team. Management is complex and difficult when these themes are out of balance. What these themes indicate is that if you want to make changes, it is not as simple as planning and implementing a change.”

By leveraging the expanding eco awareness and passions already present within your own group settings, each of us given the opportunity to promote daily engagement and lead impactful team building.
