Our personal consulting receives a variety of requests for personal assistance.  These range from initial sustainability concept identification, hang-ups in implementation, or difficulty maintaining action.  Each individual we support, either through direct interaction or through our partnership resources, is on a unique path in the pursuit of a sustainable lifestyle. However, there are some common elements that cross every journey.  The key is to define a path or plan that can provide structure and definition to your unique journey.

A personal sustainability plan is about making and sustaining a change in your life that you can be inspired and passionate about.   In our personal sustainability consulting, we are often approached by clients wanting to incorporate sustainability concepts into their daily living.  For most, this desire is sparked by a growth in eco awareness and a desire for personal improvement.

In direct interaction with clients or larger audiences, we begin the sustainability conversation by discussing: “what is personal sustainability and more importantly what does personal sustainability mean to you?”

Through this discussion, we identify specific personal drivers in the pursuit of a sustainable lifestyle.  Finding this unique sustainability value is an important first step in building a personal sustainability plan.  Now while the personal examples may vary, there are a few basic and reoccurring personal sustainability themes in all actions:

•    Fulfills personal interests.
•    Promotes personal growth.
•    Reduces daily expenses and helps save money.
•    Promotes healthier living.

Applying this personal value mindset as a basis in a personal plan for sustainability, you will be able to define specific strategies and techniques that will guide you to a more sustainable lifestyle.  Come visit us if you would like to learn more.
