Green Business: What's in It for Me?

image: green businessIn our professional consulting, we do a lot of networking with business and individuals that are not always aware of the value of sustainable business practices.   Even more questionable is how a sustainability consultant  can benefit the bottom line in their business.  At a recent lunch engagement, a prominent figure of a local business asked, “How can sustainability directly benefit my company?”

This simple and straight forward question is probably the most common in our daily professional interactions.  Companies, especially in today’s environment, want to know how each and every action by their organization directly impacts their bottom line.  Business leaders want to see sustainability’s link to either reduced costs or increased revenue.

At Taiga Company, we work less on solving the unsustainable and focus most of our attention on the value in taking sustainable action.  In the business world, there are some sustainability concepts applicable to all industries and companies that can add significant value:

•    Cut Operating Costs
•    Improve Capacity Utilization
•    Increase Customer Retention
•    Improve Business Reputation
•    Capture Market Share
•    Create New Market Segments
•    Expand Shareholder Value

Integrating sustainability concepts is more than just ‘greening’ your company.  Business sustainability is a business improvement mindset  that drives changes in the organization to deliver real value.  Take the first step  by raising your business eco awareness and discover what really is in it for you.
