If you’re familiar with the cycling world, dirt is referred to as trails- mountain bike trails. This Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30th, Taiga Company will be represented at the USA Cycling National Championships: 24 Hour Mountain Bike Race in Colorado Springs, CO.
24 hours you might ask? Yes, that's right. I will ride my bike for 24 hours. As you can see, we're passionate about cycling! We call it green cycling. Cycling is part of a sustainable lifestyle, is alternative transportation, helps the environment, and also raises eco awareness. It seems that most people think of bikes as recreation but in our sustainability consulting with business and individuals, we encourage employers and workers to consider cycling as alternative transportation as well as part of a sustainable business strategy.
As sustainability consultants, we're pretty excited to participate. Why? Well, not only will the race be an adventure in nature but it's an opportunity to showcase some of the eco friendly promotional products. In our professional consulting to small businesses, we are committed to making the business case that integrating sustainability concepts into your business does not have mean you have to compromise in quality or price. All of our promotional items were cost competitive, easier on the environment and our purchase of them supported other likeminded sustainable businesses.
During the event, you'll notice us wearing our organic cotton T-shirts purchased from American Canvas Printing. They specialize in offering screen printing sweatshop free and eco friendly apparel and accessories. Our promotional t-shirts are part of the earth Positive line which is manufactured in a plant run on wind and solar power. The Taiga tent will display the Taiga Company banner purchased from GreenBanners. They are the original green banner / signage company and do not use any form of vinyl materials or toxic solvent inks. They print high resolution, full-color photo-quality graphics and text on a wide variety of materials using ecologically-sound renewable, recycled / recyclable and biodegradable materials.
Spot us on the trail! If you are riding, make sure to say hi on the course! I'll be wearing our team kits by Panache Cyclewear and our Taiga cycling socks by DeFeet. DeFeet has a strong commitment to sustainability including waste management, sustainable packaging, and sustainable supply chain initiatives.
Better yet - stop by the tent and say hi! We'll be giving away organic and bamboo Taiga t-shirts and Taiga cycling socks The only catch? Some cowbell and cheers in the early morning hours!
