Sprinkling Sustainability into Your Business This Holiday

Christmas cookieIt is that time of year, when many of us engage in fun and festive activities that spark our creative youthful spirit.  A holiday practice in our own home is the traditional making of the holiday cookies.  We roll out the dough, press in our favorite shapes, bake to a golden brown, and decorate them with frosting and sprinkles to our own unique style. While we all start from the same basic shapes, individual self expression results in some very ‘interesting’ creations.

As a sustainability consultant, I can’t help but parallel this activity to the many business sustainability implementations I have observed over the years.  While each business start with the same sustainability framework and basic sustainability concepts, the unique business drivers almost always results in company specific application.

Our professional consulting interactions with companies of all sizes have taught us that every organization, without exception, is on a unique path to business sustainability.  Instead of looking to fit into the mold of a traditional implementation, we encourage our clients to embrace sustainability concepts that promote and accelerate the goals of the company.  If your company is looking to:

•    Reduce Cost: Grab the red sprinkles of reduction and efficiency.

•    Increase Sales: Grab the green sprinkles of innovation, development, and differentiation.

•    Increase Shareholder Return: Grab the blue sprinkles of growth, reputation building, and risk management.

Many articles out their today report that companies have stopped growing in the current economic climate.  Differentiating your business from the others looking to make sustainable change comes down to implementing the right actions that will promote growth.  By taking a personal business approach to sustainability, a company can leverage basic sustainability concepts and best practices from across industries to implement specific solutions that deliver targeted value to the organization.

At Taiga Company, our small business resources provide knowledge and experience to clients searching for the defining and differentiating value.  Decorate your organization this holiday with a self expression of business sustainability.
