With climate change and the business case for sustainable business strategies still hotly debated, is it a wonder why more businesses aren't boldly communicating business sustainability programs and results. As the sustainability space continues to evolve with emerging labels, guidelines, definitions, and reporting structures, it is accompanied by critics internal and external to the space. Granted, the contrasting conversations provide clarity and best practices but the real kudos are to those businesses engaged in the actual pursuit of sustainability.
Part of the challenge is the definition of sustainability. When you think of "Sustainability" what comes up for you? It is so big and broad in scope that it is difficult to grasp? Or, is any one definition of it too small or limiting? This dual state presents a number of challenges when attempting to focus the business sustainability conversation. Too often the business world sees only the challenges related to business sustainability. Like many others, we seek to go beyond the bounds of the current state and explore the avenues of social media engagement that will bridge this gap. In this case, we present Taiga Company Pinterest's boards.
Pictures can help contextualize sustainability concepts of energy efficiency, waste management, fair trade, and other related information that not only educates, but engages us in ways beyond words. We advocate that social media executed successfully can be a powerful vehicle to build sustainable business communications by engaging with stakeholders.
