What Are You Celebrating This Labor Day?

image: Honor LaborLabor Day is the celebration of the value and dignity of work, and its role in the American way of life. It is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.

As a sustainability consultant, I view this holiday as an opportunity to recognize and promote the advancement of sustainable business strategies.  Strategies represented in Taiga Company's sustainable business, with those sustainability plans adopted by our clients, and the integration of sustainability concepts in society as a whole.  Some of the sustainable developments that have advanced society include:

•    Growth of general eco awareness seen around the world.
•    Mainstream integration of sustainability concepts into daily living.
•    Shift in consumer expectations  - refining alternative products and services.
•    Recognition in the corporate world for the business case for business sustainability.
•    Increasing number of companies developing business sustainability strategies and providing transparency through corporate reporting.

At Taiga Company, we addresses eco awareness and the integration of sustainability concepts into business and daily living by asking clients and peers to seek ways to replace current habits with more sustainable ones.  For a professional organization, that may be a business sustainability plan.  For an individual, that may be a personal sustainability plan .

As a sustainable living consultant working with businesses and individuals, we encourage our clients to lead by example.  While Labor Day can be the celebration of the end of summer, it can also be an opportunity to promote personal and business sustainability.  Take this holiday to integrate new sustainability concepts into your weekend.
