As many companies now view profitability and business sustainability to be a similar pursuit, we can’t help but reflect on the growth in business eco awareness and progress made this year. We find many organizations adopting a more comprehensive definition of business sustainability that runs consistently through core business processes and seeks to align the interests of key stakeholders with business value. Our sustainability consulting experiences in 2009 greatly expanded our understanding of sustainability in business. We have explored the myriad of benefits and drivers of business sustainability. In particular, we have followed the business world’s recognition of the triple bottom line as a means of defining the business profitability impacts of environmental and social action.
In addition, we have seen a growth in clarity around sustainability concepts and a refinement of ‘green’ products and services. The significant shift in the knowledge of the general public and the corresponding response of business has accelerated significant change this past year.
At Taiga Company, we view the growth in general eco awareness and resulting market opportunities and internal benefits will keep sustainability as a top priority for business success. In planning for 2010, our sustainability consulting practice is ready to drive even greater change in the coming year.
