May is National Bike Month and at Taiga Company, we consider cycling to be an integral part of a personal sustainability plan. In a recent post, Live Green! Ride a Bike! we explored ways in which cycling contributes to healthy living, living a sustainable lifestyle and also helps the environment.
Today, in honor of National Bike Month, I'd like to celebrate some of the people and organizations expanding eco awareness via cycling and contributing to an environmentally sustainable world.
Accor Services offers the commuter check for bicycling. This allows employers to buy commuter vouchers and issue them to employees just like they would for transit. This is a valuable small business resource in terms of benefits to employees. Employees with eco awareness and interest in commuter benefits are encouraged to contact their human resources department and ask how they can get involved. Or, contact @get2work on twitter.
EcoVelo: A website demonstrating commitment to reduce the impact on the environment by employing bicycles as the primary mode of transport. I find it inspiring and encouraging to others to share a similar commitment. Connect with them on twitter.
A personal favorite, Follow Nathan. Follow Nathan is an adventurous, real time and interactive bike ride across America dedicated to raising awareness for land and nature conservation starting May 10th in Maine. Follow Nathan on twitter.
As an avid cyclist and sustainability consultant, these are inspiring to me and I hope they are to you too!
