As a sustainability consultant working with small businesses to integrate sustainability concepts into business, it is not uncommon for a client to ask, "So, just how "green" is Taiga Company?" 

I love moments like this because I am offered the opportunity to share with clients the sustainability plan that Taiga Company has in place but also illustrate how many traditional approaches can seamlessly be replaced with processes embracing eco awareness.
 
At Taiga Company, business sustainability is in the core of our business as well as in the execution of our business.  Integrated within our business and operating plan, there is a sustainability plan in place.  Regarding our supply chain, purchasing decisions, vendor selection, alliances and partnerships, all are based on our defined criteria of environmental, social, and economic factors specific to the company's vision for building business sustainability.
 
In my professional consulting, oftentimes I find it easier for clients to grasp the results or the tangible manifestations of our sustainability plan.  Although this is not a comprehensive list of the sustainability concepts we embrace, it give a client some tangible ideas.

• Our day to day activities include an aggressive recycling program for paper, plastic, and glass. 
• Our energy management program includes the procurement of wind energy and we employ energy efficiency methods in the office. 
• We have an ongoing commitment towards a paperless office. 
• Our kitchen area is colored with reusable kitchen wear, a compost bin, organic fruits and eco friendly cleaners to clean up. 
• We minimize travel via online meetings.

 
Our culture can definitely be characterized as one of experimentation.  As sustainability consultants, we continually seek to raise the bar and explore eco friendly alternatives to traditional approaches.  Our sales activities and our vendor selections illustrate this.  We enjoy partnering with clients and suppliers who share common environmental business values.
