As a green living consultant privy to those exploring personal sustainability plans, it has become obvious that consumers want to understand the full spectrum of a sustainable lifestyle.  That may include a variety of eco actions ranging from recycling, purchase of renewable energy, to how to engage employers in business sustainability programs.    Primarily, they want to understand how integrating sustainability concepts in choices and eco action impact their homes, communities, and work.

In our eco friendly consulting practice, we're often asked: What is the motivation to go green? Below are some of the answers we've received in our eco friendly training programs:

•    Save money and resources by living a sustainable lifestyle.
•    It's good for the environment.
•    It's healthy!  Consuming organic foods and using eco friendly cleaning products contributes to improve well being.  Walking and cycling are considered great exercise as well as alternative zero emitting transportation.
•    Improved quality of life and work life balance.
•    By acting responsibly today, it helps future generations.
•    It's the right thing to do.  Taking eco action inspires others.
•    Reconnecting with the local community is investing in the growth of that community.
•    Living sustainably aligns values with daily action.  It feels good to walk the talk.
•    Gain a competitive edge - career building with eco awareness.
•    Acting as a conscious consumer exercises your financial vote in supporting business sustainability.
•    Exercising random acts of green kindness demonstrates compassion and encourages community and belonging.

A sustainable lifestyle is chosen for a host of reasons.  As a sustainable living consultant, it’s a rewarding day for me when a client finds the value in "going green" for themselves and embraces eco awareness in their life.  The positive impact on the environment is exponential with more and more people seeking eco awareness in their personal lives and in their work.
