We have taken a moment to reflect back on the past years measures of success.

Our sustainability consulting discussions and experiences over the past year indicate that the leading company’s philosophies, strategies, and programs included:

  • A genuine commitment to sustainability at the highest levels of the organization, with sustainability concepts built into core strategic business strategies. Example: BP’s motto “Beyond Petroleum” is clear, understandable, and well communicated.

  • Products and services deliver profit through sustainability concepts.

  • Marketing campaigns and price structures encourage customers to make sustainable choices.

  • Supplier relationships encourage sustainability concepts and promote innovation.

  • Key Stakeholders are engaged and see the value.

  • Transparent Reporting, that does not shy away from sensitive issues, and is part of the larger management system.

Taiga Company views these to be sustainable business best practices and includes these same sustainability concepts into our professional consulting.

We applaud the leaders of 2008 and look forward to seeing more from these leaders in 2009.
